Alicia B El Mirage , AZ August 28, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Washer WCSR2090D5WW My 10 year old ge washing machine's agitator stopped spinning suddenly Before buying a new ($1200) washer, I found the trouble shooting guide and decided to check if my problem was a simple fix or a complicated procedure... turns out it was the simple fix. Removing the agitator was the hardest part, it lifted straight up, but took some muscle and a belt for leverage. Then I had to remove one bolt, lift off the damaged part, and put the new part on with the one bolt. Done. Works perfectly. Nancy R Grand Rapids , MI August 01, 2014 Agitator wasn't working Well, I typed in the problem in google and it gave me several options or suggestions as to what might be wrong, so I dug in a littler further with the model of my washer and it came up with the coupler. So I go home, start taking my washer apart (mind you, I'm 62, stubborn, and cheap) to see if I can take it apart and I did it! I unscrewed the old coupler and it still had teeth on it, but I went with the recommendation from you guys on the coupler. So I ordered it and to my amazement, it arrived 2 days later! I put it on, screw everything back on, crossed my fingers and turned on the water. Do you know how difficult it is to see if the agitator is agitating because it shuts off when you open the hood...anyway, I heard a ton of noise (splashing noise) and took a flashlight to see if I could see the agitation and it was working! not only working, but REALLY working. I was SO proud of myself. Called myself Ms. Maytag washer repair person for a few days. Anyway, I so appreciate your help with helping me figure out what the issue was, showing me pictures and most of all, getting it to me in two days! I would HIGHLY recommend you to anyone! Thank you so much! Read More... 47 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Wrench Set
Laurence T Stockton , CA March 28, 2014 Appliance: Model GHWN5250DOWS A string wrapped around the coupling for the agitator. I had to remove the agitator to unwrap the string. In the process, aparently I did not get the agitator installed back on the coupling properly. It came off the adaptor during the spin cycle so i reinstalled it. Severa days later someting else got wrapped around the coupling causing the agitator to come off atgain durng the high speed spin cycle. ( Made quite a noise.) Only the top of the agitator was damaged so I have been able to reuse it.. On ispectiion I noticed that the coupling was eamaged (split). Installing the new coupling agitator was easy as the agitator was off. Everyting is reinstalled and seems to be working fine.
