It was very easy to unscrew and pull the element plate away from the back wall of the oven. Then we unhooked the wires from the old element and reattached the wires of the new element. The prongs of the element slid easily into the slots and then re-screwed the plate to the back wall of the oven. This part of the job took 5-10 mins.
The best part was that in doing this disassemble, we took apart the oven door, which allowed for a deep clean that had been coming for years. We can now see into the oven through the window! The cleaning part of the job took the most time; but, was needed and worth doing.
We love how our 30yo stove is now better than ever. It's definitely better to fix the old appliances than buy a new cheaply made one that will not last.
