New control did not help. Control has a plastic projection on each end that you must pinch with a pliers to release the old control But besides it has 2 spring steel tabs on the motor side of the control. These also have to be flattened against the control to allow the control to drop out of its hole. It is a trick to get all 4 to clear at the same time. I used two tiny screw drivers to wedge the tabs flat the squeezed one end and got it started enough to have two tabs and one end loose the did the last and with much finger pressure got the thing out. Those tabs made a simple job pretty hard.The pigtail needs to be depressed on the end at same time as you pull it out of its home. Fortunately the installation slips right in till it clicks
