E24 indicates a problem with the drainage system. Drainage pump was making a noise therefore I ordered a new pump and replaced it. I also cleaned the drainage outlet pipes and found a mass of fibers blocking the air gap between the dishwasher and the garbage disposal unit. This blockage was probably the cause of the entire problem, however I had no idea that the air gap neeeded to be checked. If anyone else is seeing the E24 error message then I suggest they look at the air gap first!
