The fix was very simple.
Take the sliding bin out and remove the stationary cover.
There is a flexible rubber lining that runs the width of the cover, most likely to seal the humidity in/out. You can pull the rubber lining gently out.
Remove the broken tab.
Replace the new tab while making sure that the small end goes into a socket of the moving part.
Replace the rubber lining and replace the cover and the sliding bin.
