I followed the instructions even though I looked for ways to short cut it. Bottom line there is a solid plate on that style refrigerator and you do have to lower it, take off back panel, take off all 4 corner bolts and then pull the whole tray back about an inch. Only then can you lift the refrigerator and slide out the pin that holds the wheel in place. Not a design that makes sense to me but it it's what it is. It doesn't take long as long as you just follow it as instructed about 20 min for one wheel
