Kimberly W Herndon , VA July 22, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Electric Dryer GEW9250PL0 Whirlpool Dryer Gew9250pl0: Control locked light wouldn't turn off. How to replace User Interface (Pewter). My controls declined over a couple of weeks - the "control locked" light would go on and holding the "end of cycle" button to clear it didn't work. Unplugging the machine for a while helped a couple of times, although some of the buttons stopped working each time (only manual cycles could be run) and it was clear that the problem was getting worse. Finally, the control light stayed on, the machine beeped, and nothing could clear it. I ordered the electronic control board (in pewter to match the buttons on my machine - there are different colored buttons which isn't always clear in the control board parts description). Our handyman replaced it in about 20 minutes. It was pretty straightforward. I wouldn't have wanted to attempt it myself because I am not at all handy, but it was a relatively easy job for someone who is handy. 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes
