Brian R North Andover , MA November 21, 2015 Appliance: Model LG WM2016CW Corroded spider causing excessive wear and burning on the door boot gasket Replaced the spider, tub seal, door boot gasket and the boot clamp. Things to note: (1) the bolts for the spider were rusted in place, needed WD-40 and impact wrench to remove. Avoid destroying the bolts since the spider doesn't come with new ones. (2) this requires complete disassembly of the washer, take the opportunity to clean the tub and any hoses that may be gunked up and also replace any smaller parts while you have easy access to them.(3) the hardest part of the job is reinstalling the two boot clamps since they are so tight, be persistent, they are critical parts and will go back on. I wish I had replaced the bearings while I was in there even though I don't think they were worn. I did it as a one man job, but needed a helper to lift the assembled tub/drum in and out of the unit. After doing this repair (I had previously replaced a pump with the help of APP) I feel like I know that washer inside and out and can replace anything on it.
