We got the cracked panel off while the door was still on the hinge. Then, we could see how to get the whole door off the hinge. After that, it was possible (with an electric drill) to remove the hinge itself. We mounted the door back onto the hinge, working on a table, and installed the replacement panel.Then, we remounted the whole assembly (door and hinge together) onto the washer. The only mystery about the whole thing, was why the crack happened in the first place. (It's not as if we do gymnastics on the washer door!) :)
