Peter G North Tonawanda , NY April 22, 2014 Appliance: Frigidaire Washer ATF6000FS0 The entire door fell of washer because outer door craked and broke at the hinge I took the door assembly apart by removing the 7 screws on the inner door and the 2 on the striker. I removed the hinge from the washer so that I could place it inside the door when I put it back together. This is much easier then trying to reassemble the door while the hinge is attached to the machine. Once I lined up all of the pieces properly, I screwed it back together and remounted the striker. I then put the entire door back on the machine by screwing in the three screws that hold on the hinge. Assembly and reattachment is much easier with 2 people as the door is fairly heavy. Timothy M Shutesbury , MA November 23, 2014 Door fell off Easy enough for a child. This white panel also fits the models that did have a chrome panel, and is a third of the cost. The repair is simple, and was made simpler because I could open the door against the dryer which was next to the washer. If nothing is there, try putting a crate or something there to work against. There are notches to line up the different pieces correctly, so watch for those. The first two layers of the clear plastic screen and the black ring snap into place against the outer panel. Then the glass and inner gray ring are more easily held if there is something behind the door to push against, so the little white clips don't pop off the door while you put in the screws. I've done a lot of appliance repairs, and they don't get any easier than this. Mark B Santa Barbara , CA August 11, 2015 Appliance: Frigidaire Washer FAFW4011LW0 A crack formed in the outer door panel of our front loading washer We got the cracked panel off while the door was still on the hinge. Then, we could see how to get the whole door off the hinge. After that, it was possible (with an electric drill) to remove the hinge itself. We mounted the door back onto the hinge, working on a table, and installed the replacement panel. Then, we remounted the whole assembly (door and hinge together) onto the washer. The only mystery about the whole thing, was why the crack happened in the first place. (It's not as if we do gymnastics on the washer door!) :) Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
