William R Emporia , KS May 02, 2015 Customer complained refrig not cooling enough temp control was turned to coldest setting I 1st checked for proper evap and condenser fan operation. That was ok. I then removed plastic in freezer section to check for frost or ice build up (looking for bad defrost heater or timer or defrost termination stat). All was ok. Next I removed the thermostat and checked it using an ice bath and ohm meter. Operation when closing had high resistance. Red flag! So to confirm my assumption of a bad temp control I bypassed the temperature control and watched the box temp. Box cooled as was supposed to. Diagnosis confirmed... bad temp control. 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
