William R Emporia , KS May 02, 2015 Customer complained refrig not cooling enough temp control was turned to coldest setting I 1st checked for proper evap and condenser fan operation. That was ok. I then removed plastic in freezer section to check for frost or ice build up (looking for bad defrost heater or timer or defrost termination stat). All was ok. Next I removed the thermostat and checked it using an ice bath and ohm meter. Operation when closing had high resistance. Red flag! So to confirm my assumption of a bad temp control I bypassed the temperature control and watched the box temp. Box cooled as was supposed to. Diagnosis confirmed... bad temp control. Michael B Norfolk , VA August 08, 2016 Appliance: Model 106.76242402 Cold freezer warm fridge After reading a bunch of blogs and checking everything else (coils clear not iced in freezer, coils under fridge not dusty, no blockage vent path between fridge/freezer) I went with the thermostat. It takes about 5 minutes total to disassemble and replace. My fridge is now cold and everything seems to be ok. Michael R Troy , IL January 02, 2015 Fridge & freezer were not cold (55 & 35 degrees) adjusting temp control had no effect compressor would start and run for just a short time Replaced thermostat assembly, works great. Temps are now 35 & 0 degrees. Total time to repair was 30 minutes which included removing the shelves and drawers.
