I researched the issue online and quickly found that this was one of several possible reasons for the failure.
I called and spoke with an Appliance Parts Pros tech who helped me use a multi-meter to determine that the door switch was good, but the thermal fuse was bad. The part arrived very quickly (I think one day!) and I simply followed the instructions with the part, removing the old wiring and fuse and replacing it with the new. Once everything was re-assembled, it started right up! From research through completion, I probably spent 2 hrs.
