Caroline A Otsego , MI June 11, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Microwave PVM1870DM1WW Ge Microwave Pvm1870dm1ww: The door handle broke off at the bottom. How to replace Assy-Handle. I partially removed the edge on the inside using a butter knife to loosen the plastic catches. I did this very carefully, knowing my model is from 2009 and that plastic becomes brittle in time and I did not want to affect the integrity of the seal when the door closed. I exposed where the screws for the handle were. They were easy to unscrew, but much harder to put back in. The space is very small and even though I have small fingers I still needed to use a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the screw in place to screw it back in. It would help to have a magnetic screw driver and it is important that the shaft of the screw driver be narrow to fit in the space, especially to keep the screw straight when screwing in. 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes
