Caroline A Otsego , MI June 11, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Microwave PVM1870DM1WW The door handle broke off at the bottom I partially removed the edge on the inside using a butter knife to loosen the plastic catches. I did this very carefully, knowing my model is from 2009 and that plastic becomes brittle in time and I did not want to affect the integrity of the seal when the door closed. I exposed where the screws for the handle were. They were easy to unscrew, but much harder to put back in. The space is very small and even though I have small fingers I still needed to use a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the screw in place to screw it back in. It would help to have a magnetic screw driver and it is important that the shaft of the screw driver be narrow to fit in the space, especially to keep the screw straight when screwing in. It took me longer to open the package and get the handle on than it did for the part to arrive. A butter knife to pull out the interior edging (gently), 2 screws, and walla! New handle. Read More...
