Angela T Madison , SD September 08, 2014 Did not drain faulty pump I've never fixed a major appliance, so I was quite proud to be able to fix our washing machine. My husband likes to hire repairmen for such issues, but I like to avoid the cost if at all possible. First, I searched online for the cause of the washer not draining. Forums and youtube videos informed me that it was either a faulty pump or clogged hoses. After watching some DIY videos, I removed the front panel which revealed a fairly simple setup inside: a big tub, the motor, and a pump with two hoses connected to it. I removed the hoses and determined they were clear, so assumed it must be the pump (which looked totally fine from the outside). After getting the pump from appliance parts, I clamped the two hoses on, tightened the screws, and replaced the front panel. And I was thrilled after running a small load when I opened the lid to see the clothes completely wrung out and no water sitting at the bottom! 76 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
