Replaced the high limit thermostat and thermal fuse, mainly because sometimes the fuse fails because the thermostat fails first. Both parts probably being original on this 20+ year old dryer, I just replaced them both. As a final step, to be sure, I checked the vent for obstructions and found it to be clear. For this retired appliance repair technician, the job was easy.
