Susan I Altadena , CA July 04, 2015 Appliance: Model GE GAS DRYER Dryer timer stem broke UNPLUGGED DRYER FIRST. I opened the back of the dryer control panel and removed the old timer. Then I switched out the wires one by one to make sure I got the connections right. Please be careful doing this so you don't break any wires off like I did. Then I used one of the old wires to repair the broken connector. Spliced them together and used the connector to replace the broken one. Re-installed the new switch in the same direction as the old one. Closed the back up again using the 4 screws I removed. Replaced the knob and voila!! We had a working dryer again!! It was pretty easy and the part fit perfectly. Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes
