Contacting the manufacturer regarding the error code yielded two potential issues; control board, or console assembly.
Ordered the control board and performed a quick replacement and received the error code again. This meant that it was caused by a faulty console assembly. Appliance Parts Pros was extremely easy to contact, unbelievably helpful and understanding and stood (stands) behind their service. We successfully returned the part and ordered the console assembly with standard shipping. Surprised to have received the part within 1.5 days after ordering. The replacement was a straightforward detach and reattach (DIY video online) shows the how to. Now after a year of non-functional dishwasher, it's running smoothly again. One thing I may do is to run a bead of silicone caulk around the top button panel, as complaints about the console assembly revolve around water corroding contacts.
