I quickly determined from Googling around that F01 on the Whirlpool dryer was an indication that the controller board was having some issues. There are some videos out there on YouTube that show how to do this. Even if the dryer isn't the exact same model is yours, I found the videos to be helpful. First, unplug the dryer. I removed the 2 screws on the back of the dryer to remove the top cover. The controller board was in plain view right on top. The controller board was mounted to a large sheet metal bracket that was attached to the chassis of the dryer. It was easier to swap the controller out if I detached the bracket from the dryer chassis. This was easily done by removing two more screws. The controller board needs to be detached from the bracket. There's one screw holding it to the bracket and there are also plastic feet on the controller board that go thru slots in the metal bracket. Remove the screw. Then from the back side of the bracket, use a screwdriver to push in on one of the plastic tabs which will allow you to slide the controller board to one side thereby releasing it from the bracket. All of the wiring connectors that attach to the controller board are "keyed" so you can't connect them incorrectly. But if you are nervous about it, take a picture of the controller board BEFORE you disconnect all of the wiring connectors. Once you have the bad controller board disconnected, install the new one in reverse order. Make sure all wiring connectors are fully seated. It will be obvious when they are connected properly. Really easy. 43 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
