Samsung French Door bottom freezer Refridgerator is what I have. I started trouble shooting by googling possible problems. I started with the reset button on the ice maker in the freezer first. Nope The I changed the filter. Nope. Then moved to checking to see if the water line was clogged. Nope.
Moved onto YouTube and saw the video of the Ice maker fill mechanism. This took alot of guts to try on my own. I called Appliance Parts Prop as the actualy menchanism was not listed on their website and the kind and patient woman who helped me found it and I received it next day. First thing is unplug the appliance and turn any water off to the line.(my line was emply because I tried everything and kept it off until the part arrived). I had to emply the freezer then remove the front door using a ratchet set. Using cushions on the bottom of the freezer I layed inside and using a flashlight and my philips screwdriver, I unscrewed the ice maker, sliding it foward to be able to detach the plug from the mechanism to the ice maker. Then I moved to the back of the refriderator, using a flat head screwdrive I had to release the water line from the filter to the fill mechanism. Then using phiips screwdriver to remove the screws holing the panel over the fill mechanism, slowly pulling it out of the back of the fridge then inserting the new piece, reattaching the water line from the filter line all the screws I removed to their original places. Back inside the freezer I had to plug in the fill mechanism into the ice maker and then reattach the ice maker to the ceiling of the freezer. Plugged the fridge back in, reattached the freezer door and Voila~ I was done. Took about 1n hour for the freezer to chill enoug then pressed the reset button on freezeer, the water filled the ice tray. I now have ICE! Not bad for a 62 year old lady! Thank you ApplianceParts Pro! You saved me from buying a new refrigerator!
