Rachel J Long Grove , IL July 10, 2020 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF261BEAESR/AA-01 Icemaker slowed and eventually stopped making ice; leak behind fridge My husband figured that the line to the icemaker was either clogged or had frozen over. We found some posts of people defrosting the icemaker by just leaving the freezer door open or with a hairdryer or space heater, but this seemed to be only a temporary fix so we didn’t do that. Lots of videos out there for Samsung through-the-door top icemaker as, but it was difficult to find any advice for our bottom freezer style (RF261BEAESR). But the parts diagrams on Appliancepartpros are very useful and eventually I figured the frozen part is called an icemaker filler tube assembly, and the highly detailed clear video from Applianceparstpros showed us exactly how to remove the icemaker & disconnect & pull the filler tube (literally— it just PULLS out). It was frozen solid, the heating element must have failed. Then because it was frozen solid, when the pump tried to send water into the ice maker, it was leaking out the back because it had nowhere to go. The video actually showed how we could just replace the heating element, but it was only $20 more for the entire assembly, and because of the water leaking around the tube, the insulation on it had frozen to the inside and was somewhat damaged in removal. So we just ordered a whole new assembly. We put some pipe insulation in the hole while we ordered the part. It came FAST in 2 days, literally just pushed in in through the hole, and reconnected the electrical connections and put the icemaker back in. Full bin of ice 24 hrs later! It was EXTREMELY easy to do, ONCE we had seen the Appliancepartspros video of how to access it. Thank You!!! Richard C Roseville , CA November 19, 2022 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF260BEAEWW/AA-0001 Samsung rf260b fridge purchased 2013 ice maker fill line frozen. No ice production. This heater failed in 2017 and again in 2022. Repaired by a local appliance shop in 2017. I diagnosed the condition by removing the fill tube assembly and it was frozen. Curious enough was that the heater over the fill tube didn't have any insulation as shown in repair videos and part photos. Looks like the repair guy didn't put the insulation back on or damaged it, or something else. Probably why it failed this second time as it was working overtime without insulation. Ordered part and was ready to install the empty fill tube was partially frozen probably from condensation so used a hair dryer to melt the ice. It was a bit of a struggle to get the unit back in the fill tube as it was a very tight fit. Connecting the electrical for the heater and ice maker was difficult even with the top freezer tray removed. Better to remove the whole freezer drawer, but mine was full of food so I didn't do that. My ice maker doesn't have tabs that slide into the back of the freezer to hold it up as you put in screws for the ice maker so three hands would be nice to install this. I used the back of one hand to hold the ice maker in position and the other two guide and screw the thing in all at an awkward position. Ice maker now works!! Hope it lasts another 5 years or so before the next thing breaks and I buy a new fridge. Side note: A month before this the two screws for the ice maker had fallen out and the ice maker was hanging by the electric wires not making ice of course. Found one screw and this type of screw is not standard, Ace didn't have one and Samsung does not carry them so had to use a little bigger screw. I suspect the last repair guy didn't screw them all the way in and they vibrated out over time. Jeanne H Membroke , MA September 26, 2025 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF260BEAEWW/AA-01 Freezer was not making ice Samsung French Door bottom freezer Refridgerator is what I have. I started trouble shooting by googling possible problems. I started with the reset button on the ice maker in the freezer first. Nope The I changed the filter. Nope. Then moved to checking to see if the water line was clogged. Nope. Moved onto YouTube and saw the video of the Ice maker fill mechanism. This took alot of guts to try on my own. I called Appliance Parts Prop as the actualy menchanism was not listed on their website and the kind and patient woman who helped me found it and I received it next day. First thing is unplug the appliance and turn any water off to the line.(my line was emply because I tried everything and kept it off until the part arrived). I had to emply the freezer then remove the front door using a ratchet set. Using cushions on the bottom of the freezer I layed inside and using a flashlight and my philips screwdriver, I unscrewed the ice maker, sliding it foward to be able to detach the plug from the mechanism to the ice maker. Then I moved to the back of the refriderator, using a flat head screwdrive I had to release the water line from the filter to the fill mechanism. Then using phiips screwdriver to remove the screws holing the panel over the fill mechanism, slowly pulling it out of the back of the fridge then inserting the new piece, reattaching the water line from the filter line all the screws I removed to their original places. Back inside the freezer I had to plug in the fill mechanism into the ice maker and then reattach the ice maker to the ceiling of the freezer. Plugged the fridge back in, reattached the freezer door and Voila~ I was done. Took about 1n hour for the freezer to chill enoug then pressed the reset button on freezeer, the water filled the ice tray. I now have ICE! Not bad for a 62 year old lady! Thank you ApplianceParts Pro! You saved me from buying a new refrigerator! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers, Socket Set
