How to replace Cooling Motor. The fan motor was defective so it needed to be replaced. This is the motor that controls the fan to cool the coils in the back of the fridge. Since they were not being cooled the freezer was not getting cold. The back panel needed to be removed. You will also need to remove the drain tube and the ice maker connection from the back to pull the housing for the fan and motor out. Once the motor was replaced I reinstalled everything. 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
