I replaced the control switch which did not fix the problem. My next choice was to replace the element. A bit of a challenge since this is a glass cooktop and has to be removed to replace the element. The element turned out to be correct fix for the problem. I usually don't throw parts at a machine until I find the trouble, but this time it still was cheaper than having a tech come out to do the repair.
