This on the freezer door mounted maker has three components of which only one was known to be broken - the chute trap door came off the hinges when dislodging a chute ice dam.
Diagnostics in this small town is scarce but we finally got an appliance repairman out who ID'd the most probable cause, removed the trap door assemble to illustrate 1) it was broken - plastic, 2) how it goes in/out for a possible DIY fix
