Our Samsung side by side had the ice maker stop working for the second time in two years; with the first time happening under warranty. The tray would drop ice one final time and then get stuck in the dispense position. The reset button would work for one cycle until it finally gave up. Replacing the part is as simple as removing two screws and disconnecting one wiring harness. Replacement is the reverse. There must be a resettable fuse or something on the circuit though because the new part would not work not reset until the refrigerator was hard power cycled.
