After eliminating the water fill valve, the only other option was to replace the icemaker. The replacement is of a better design than the original. The instruction sheet was fair. But the best information came from a video of my exact refrigerator. The wiring harness is not for the faint of heart. You need to have some skills such as being able to use a butt connector for a wire which is inaccessible. Most of the connectors will only go onto one part of the icemaker. However, you need to pay attention to the wire colors for the blower motor of the icemaker if yours is so equipped. One connector required the use of needle nose pliers to remove a ground wire. One ground wire screw was inaccessible which required a splice using a butt connector.
