Used a small torx or star head driver to remove the plate hiolding the old igniter. Pull plate up and slide off the electrical wire from the old ignite. Removed the old igniter. Intalled the new one. Removed the old gasket and installed the new one. Slid electrical wire onto new igniter. Reassembled the plate to the cooktop. Malfunctioning ignter resolved! Whole repair took about ten minutes with the removal and installing of the sliding ring washer that holds the igniter to the plate being the trickiest part of the repair.
