After looking up similar problems on this website I ordered Part # AP3083556 to replace the compressor start relay overload and cover. (Note: the part number on my 17 year old device was 3885081.) Ordered on Saturday. Received part on Tuesday. Removed cover above refrigerator to expose compressor and coils, unplugged refrigerator, removed screen with 5 screws, removed support bar with two bolts to access compressor and overload and relay. Popped off plastic cover with screwdriver as shown on cover. Used needlenose pliers to pull start relay and overload device off compressor. Pulled off electrical wires from start relay and overload device and connected them to new parts. Plugged new parts onto compressor. Plugged refrigerator into outlet again and compressor started running. Waited 10 minutes to see if compressor continued to run and then unplugged refrigerator, inserted wires through slot on cover and snapped cover in place and plugged refrigerator back in outlet. Replaced support and wire cover and exterior cover. Compressor has been running fine for 3 days and recycling without problems. Took about 45 minutes total time. Savings over paying repairman to install new compressor about $1650!
