Since the normal function worked, this eliminated the Motor centrifugal switch being the problem leaving only the cycle switch (the switch selecting Normal or Solid Locked) or the Top Limit Directional Switch being the problem. Since I rarely change the cycle switch... it's normally always left in the Solid Locked position I suspected the top switch since it's cycled continuously. I ordered the replacement switch from AppliancePartsPro at about 1:00p.m. on Tuesday and the part was delivered to me around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday... I was impressed! I replaced the switch and the compactor is back to working correctly.
