The knob is easy to take off but needs to have a replacement knob. The plastic circle in the center gets a break and will no longer move the metal control. I have already replaced all the original 4 knobs and am now starting to need replacements for them again. There must be some defect with the plastic that causes it to break or it is a poor design. We have had the range for only 5 years.
