Changing out the rotor position sensor solved the issue. I also had a drain pump that had failed. While the front panel was off, I replaced the old nasty door boot gasket. The sensor and drain pump were fairly easy repairs. Lots of videos to show you how if you need a reference. The door boot gasket can be a real pain. Lube the new one with a little dish soap- warning: metal clamps do NOT go back on as easy as they come off. If I had to do it again, I would probably invest in the spring tool.
