I called LG customer support and they told me they could not determine the cause of the problem on the telephone and to call a repairman. I knew it wasn't an interlock problem so I removed the bezel around the controls, then removed the Pcb Assembly and display. the assembly came out easily by removing 8 screws and separating three connectors. The replacement came FedEx in 2 days and it took my less then 10 minutes to reinstall. After plugging in the washer it came to life and performs like new. The entire repair cost me less then $100 including shipping.
