The motor module contains the turning mechanism for the ice maker to remove the ice. It also contains the thermostat and the electrical circuit and controls to heat the bottom of the ice tray to loosen the ice to be removed by the turning mechanism, to call for the ice to be removed and to send a signal to the water valve to open. This is an integral component of the ice maker and without it nothing will work.
