My wife told me the drum was not turning on the dryer. Removed vent tube from the back (easiest access to see inside). Belt was good, the pulley was good. Tried to turn drum manually. Would not turn at all. Took off belt and drum turned just fine. Still could not turn the motor spindle. Ordered motor from AppliancePartsPros. Easy to find online and easy order process. Received motor really quickly. Had to wait until the weekend to fix to have the time. Samsung dryer comes apart pretty easy and I've done it before.
Once I removed blower fan cover I immediately saw the problem. A sock had found its way into the fan blade. It was wedged in there pretty good but was able to remove without damaging fins on the fan. Big Question: change motor anyway or put back together to test. Of course, I chose to put back together and test. Dryer worked great after assembly. Upon investigation, youngest son (adult) forgot to mention that he ran the dryer without the filter just before it stopped working. Duh!
Hoping to RMA motor if Appliance Parts Pros will allow. Would definitely order again from A.P.P.
