The old knobs are plastic maybe seven years old . They are cracked at the point of attachment. The metallic material on some was bubbled and did not look good. I was afraid because of them being loose they may be accidentally bumped and turn on the gas. I felt they were a hazard. Also,with the price of the range I feel that GE could have included an upgraded knob.
