I wasn't exactly sure what the problem was with our GE oven not working. My wife had bought groceries to make a special dish for New Year's Eve and so she wasn't exactly happy that the oven had died. I started searching the Internet and found a few resources. Then I found AppliancePartsPros.com and I'm so thankful I did. The page for my particular oven had all the parts of the oven, helpful comments from others, and even a great video from a technician on how to replace the igniter. The comments from others led me to believe the igniter had gone bad. So I watched the video on the exact repair and removed the igniter. It was pretty quick since I have well-rounded DIY skills. (But I was still a little nervous as I am on all home repairs that I haven't done before.) I used my multimeter on the removed igniter and read there was no continuity. I went ahead and ordered the part, which was about $30 cheaper than some other sites, and waited for the part to arrive. Unbelievably, the part arrived the next day. I immediately checked for continuity and there it was, so I knew the igniter was bad for sure. I watched the technician video one more time and then did the replacement. The oven fired right up. It was really cool to have the repair finished in just under 24 hours of ordering the part. Out of almost 45 years of DIY home repairs under my belt (I had a great Dad who taught me all the basics), this was easily the most positive experience I've had with a repair. Plus, my wife was able to bake her special dish that night and I looked like a hero.
