Ge WB2X9154 Round Style Oven Or Broiler Igniter OEM Part

There are two igniters in oven, one for top broiler and one for bake oven at bottom. Your website help me troubleshoot the problem and locate the part. ordered part was delivered the next day. Following the instructions that others on your website had provided, the repair was quick and SUCCESSFUL. No need to pull out oven as power cord can be accessed from removing bottom storage drawer. Step 1: Remove the storage drawer from below the oven and disconnect the power cord from inside. No need to shut off gas as safety value will not allow gas flow from igniter when removed. Step 2: Remove oven door. It should lift right off and racks Step 3: Remove bottom of oven cover by lifting up and siding forward. This will expose heat deflector. Step 4: Remove heat deflector plate by removing two screws in back on corners. This will expose oven igniter. Step 5: Remove two screws holding bracket and igniter to back of oven. Step 6: Pull wires through oven opening to find ceramic wire connectors. Taking note of which wire is connected to old igniter, I took a Sharpie and marked one wire connected from oven to igniter so as to connect same corresponding wire from new igniter. Not sure if it matters Step 7: Disconnect the 2 wires going to the igniter by unscrewing ceramic wire connectors. Step 8: Remove screw holding igniter to bracket to remove old igniter and attach new igniter. Step 9: You may want to cut & strip the tip of wires to oven back the appropriate length before connect them to the new igniter with the supplied ceramic wire nuts. Step 10: Feed wires and ceramic connectors back through oven opening. Reconnect bracket and igniter to back of oven with two screws. Step 11: Test repair by plug power cord back in at bottom of oven and turn on oven to test that the igniter glows and the main gas valve opens. Step 12: Assuming your test light worked, reinstall heat deflector plate, oven bottom cover. Replace oven door & racks. Put the storage drawer back in place. FINISHED

Replaced the igniter Remove the door and drawer. Your going to need to work under the oven so get a flashlight and look at the layout before you start removing stuff. Be careful with the parts some are sharp and so is the broiler spreader inside. Unplug the unit or switch off the breaker. You would be surprised the damage you can do to controls by working live, even with low voltage. 1 Remove the Bottom plate (2 screws), be sure to re align the threaded clips this will make replaceing the plate when your done so much easier. Of course you could ignore them like I did the first time and have to take the plate back out and line them up. 2. Disconnect the high heat bug nuts underneath. They are stuffed into a little round hole at the back of the unit. Clip and re strip the ends, because you'll want to start fresh as this is a stranded wire. 3. I loosened the burner tube so I could get a spin tight on the clamp that holds the igniter to the tube. (1 screw in the front) (2 screws at the back 1 you remove from the top the other from the bottom) You should probably use a small wrench or socket set if you don't want to remove the tube. I was using a ten in one and didn't feel like heading out to the garage. 4. Replace the igniter 5. Secure the burner tub and thread the wire down the same way you removed it. (These tips were already stripped if I remember correctly) 6. Using the new supplied high heat nuts attach the new igniter and push the wires back into the hole. Make sure the burner tube is seated the way it was before. 7. Replace the bottom plate, the door and the draw. 8. Re power and pre heat the oven to 350 or so to get rid if that new metal smell.

It's the same with most any projects that you forecast will be a breeze but once you get in there it's seems to be more that anticipated. The concept of the job itself was easy enough but more things to remove than expected on this model oven. As you go just make sure all the screws are kept in separate piles and the specific panels need to go back the way they came off. This oven is an older model so through the years heat distorted the panels right under the burner and when putting it all back together is was kind of a bear cat getting holes to line up. There were times when it would have been nice to have another person holding things in place while you got the screws to take hold and screw them in. And when everything comes apart don't forget about the mess you're going to have ( years of black oven crap) so have a broom and dust pan ready to keep the work area clean because you're going to be lying down in it. Biggest thing is just make sure to put all the pieces back the way they came out and don't forget anything or you'll be going back. I took the time to clean all the five panels since it was all apart too so if you're going to keep things neat and clean this task will take a little more time. It's not a difficult job though and it was actually kind of fun to do if the dog can stay out of your way and not under your feet. If you did this all the time it is a very simple job but don't take short cuts. Make sure the gas is off even if they say it's not necessary and be sure to use electrical tape around your new wire nuts. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
