I knew that my Whirlpool dryer was acting up when I would open the door and the clothes would still be spinning. It continued this for about 6 weeks until it completely stopped. After doing some research online to determine what could be the problem, I found that others with my same dryer were having the same problem. I ordered this part which arrived the next day and I began my repair. I am mechanically inclined but hate to touch electrical work so I was hesitant. Thankfully, I had the right bit to remove the top cover's hood and from there, it was pretty easy. Unscrew the door latch, remove the plastic holders, put the new one on, reinstall it and viola - it worked! It's been a week and I've probably run the dryer 11 times since without any problem. I'm so glad this small repair worked instead of having to buy a new one after 8.5 years.
