With all the bouncing around the shocks appeared to be done in but that was not the issue. The key was the balance ring. It had leaked all the fluid out causing all the beads to clump. This caused the drum to wobble wildly and not spin at speed.
Getting to the ring to replace it is not a trivial task and took me several hours. Would have been much easier with help as the drum is quite heavy. The on-line video's are very handy and should be watched before attempting this job to save you a lot of extra work.
This job is a complete tear down of the entire machine.
Once completed, it was most satisfying, to see it work right off the bat. While a lot of work, it was way cheaper than buying a new one or paying someone else to do the repair which would have been close to the cost of a new one.
If your adventurous with a bit of mechanical aplitude, this is worth doing to save a ton of money.
Cheers,
