Brett L Currituck , NC November 12, 2016 Appliance: LG Washer WM2016CW Lg Washer Wm2016cw / Abweeus: Smoke coming from drum on spin cycle. How to replace Shock Absorber Kit. After the washer had filed the laundry room with smoke and determining the source of the smoke was the door gasket. I removed the back cover to see if the bearings and or seal were bad and I discovered that one of the shock absorbers had pulled apart and the other 2 were leaking, I ordered new bearings, seal, spider assembly, door boot seal, tub o-ring, & shock absorbers to make sure I had everything that could possibly be wrong with it before starting the repair based upon research and watching videos on you-tube and appliancepartspros.com. Disassembly of washer was fairly easy and once I got it apart, I found that the spider was deteriorating and the inner tub bearing was starting to go bad, this plus the bad shocks were causing the drum the rub on the door boot gasket during spin cycle. All the new parts were direct replacements for the original equipment, everything went together fine and washer functions like new. I think that almost anyone that is even remotely mechanically inclined could do this job, the hardest part was getting the dryer off the top and moving washer so I could work on it plus getting the drum out of and back into the washer cabinet. The drum and tub assembly is heavy and awkward. I would highly recommend purchasing parts from appliancepartspros.com 7 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours
