Two out of Four of my "Push To Light" stove top valves we stuck! Wouldn't turn. I'd broken the inside of both knobs trying to use.
Used my Mo# to order new valves. Bought 4 knobs as well. I was expecting some cosmetic difference with just 2. I was wrong, they matched mine perfectly, but I changed all 4 because they are New.
Valve replacement was straight forward & easy. (MAKE SURE THE GAS IS OFF BEFORE YOU BEGIN)!!! Mine was simple, just unplug.
I used a #2 Phillips screw driver to remove the cover. 1/2" wrench to remove gas line. Do this first, before you loosen the valve. Then the Phillips to remove the "Clamp" that holds the valve itself. INSTALL: Put the valve in place loosely, hand tighten gas line, tool tighten valve, tool tighten gas line, install cover & knobs, turn on gas, check for leaks, Done!
You will smell some gas for a short period. Nature of the repair.
NOTE! New valves come with new seals installed. Make sure the old seals are off.(stuck on your old valve). If not, you will have to take them off of the manifold tube with your fingers.
