Replaced a faulty timer. Our Maytag dryer would turn on and heat normally but the timer would not advance to "off" in any of the dryer modes. Suspecting a bad timer, I replaced the timer unit. Repair was easy. A few screws to get to the timer from the front and only 2 to take it off without needing to move the dryer at all.
I replaced one wire at a time, pulling the wire clips from the old timer and matching its position to the new one. Needle-nose or bullnose pliers are a must as the sharp clips are difficult to remove with your fingers.
Pre-drilled holes on the new timer were tighter than the previous timer's but nothing too difficult to snug up with a nut driver.
Dryer runs great, back to normal.
