Ivan O San Diego , CA May 25, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer PYG2300AWW Maytag dryer (pyg2300aww) would not automatically shut off in timed dry or auto dry An internet search revealed that the likely problem was the timer. (In all modes - timed and auto dry in both regular heat and low, the timer knob would not slowly rotate to indicate the progress. The dryer would continue to apply heat and tumble clothes well beyond the point of "dry" until I opened the door to manually stop it.) AppliancePros had the part at a good price and a clear instruction video on how to open up my exact dryer - not just a similar one - and replace the timer. It really did take less than 15 minutes. I spent more time cleaning up the dusty spaces behind and around the dryer since I had to pull it away from the wall. Jeffrey S Monrovia , CA September 12, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer PYG2200AWW Timer would not advance dryer would not turn off on it's own Replaced a faulty timer. Our Maytag dryer would turn on and heat normally but the timer would not advance to "off" in any of the dryer modes. Suspecting a bad timer, I replaced the timer unit. Repair was easy. A few screws to get to the timer from the front and only 2 to take it off without needing to move the dryer at all. I replaced one wire at a time, pulling the wire clips from the old timer and matching its position to the new one. Needle-nose or bullnose pliers are a must as the sharp clips are difficult to remove with your fingers. Pre-drilled holes on the new timer were tighter than the previous timer's but nothing too difficult to snug up with a nut driver. Dryer runs great, back to normal.
