Researched the problem online. Found the part number on the Maytag website using the dryer model and serial numbers. Searched for a a parts supplier; found AppliancePartsPros.com, checked their reviews (they were 4.5 stars!). Ordered the part (it was about the same price everywhere), received it on the date they said, followed a 2 minute YouTube video on replacing the timer, tested it out - happy wife!
