I could here the timer running and sometimes it would start if the timer was moved to another function. Replaced the lid switch and it did not fix the issue. Replacing the timer solved the problem. Fortunately there are excellent videos illustrating how to replace both of these parts, so I had no surprises, and the job was not difficult or time consuming.
