How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4008646 / 12001908 Lid Switch Kit

New lid switch and back in business you guys are great 

I am a 57 year old woman. I watched the video and easily replaced the part. It took longer to clean behind the washer than replace the part! The part arrived in 1-1/2 days. 

I researched what could be wrong and contacted APP with a couple of questions. It took longer than expected to get a reply, but my questions were answered. I ordered an unbalance lever assembly and a lid switch kit. Delivery was surprisingly fast! Installing the lever assembly was a bit tricky I had to remove the lid (held in place by plastic balls) to get at the mounting screws; also, setting the new assembly in place was a bit awkward, mainly because of the tight space. Up and running now. All in all a relatively inexpensive fix and a great learning experience. 

Replaced lid switch, plunger and lid cam actuator. Watched video online, replacement was a piece of cake. Parts arrived for washer, which was Maytag Atlantis, matched perfectly with old parts. Slid washer away from wall, unplugged washer, removed rear cover from control panel. Unplugged wiring at connector, snapped old part out, new part snapped right in. Reconnect wires, and worked perfectly. Wife impressed. 

It started with when you close the lid sometimes the washer would run and sometimes it wouldn’t. You’d have to lift the lid and then close it again sometimes to get it to start. Eventually, stop starting and running. I came back to AppliancePartsPros to look for the problem. I found it was the light switch and replaced it. I ordered it on Friday and got it on Sunday. It works like a charm. Saved me several hundred dollars in either repair or a new washer. 

I replaced the lid switch and that solved the problem. It was a quick and easy repair. The lid switch I ordered from Appliance Parts Pros. It came in two days after I ordered it, very good service. The price was comparable to other appliance parts suppliers online and better than some companies in my area. I would definitely recommend Appliance Parts Pros. I give them 5 stars....... 

Went on youtube and searched for "Maytag Atlantas" and found a video describing my problem exactly. Ordered the Lid switch kit from Appliance Parts Pros. It was shipped immediately and arrived within a couple of days. I replaced the switch, and the washing machine now works. Kudos to the folks at AppliancePartsPros.com. I saved much money doing the very simple repair myself! 

So after paying a GE "repairman" $100 to come to my house and diagnose my refrigerator issue, he left me with a part number and an estimate of $540 to fix it. I went online to AppliancePros, purchased the part for $119 and fixed it my self.....in under 15 minutes. When my washer stopped working, I immediately went to the AppliancePros site, researched reasons why a washer might not start, found the reason for 74% of the time why they don't start. Purchased a Lid Switch for $21 and replaced it in under 10 minutes. My washing machine has been happily washing since! 

Took the back plate off which holds the top face plate on the front of machine. Removed wires to the lid switch, removed switch, and replaced switch and wires. Than put the panels back on, I was done. 

I waited for Sears to install the part they came up with. It didn't fix it. He said the will not fix the washer. I had him unplug the lid switch and us your part. It was now fixed and I now have a new extra timer. The part got to my house in a day in a half. GREAT S/H!!! :-) Thanks again Parts Pro You now have a new customer, and all my friends too.
