First I needed to replaced the timer. However that timer is no longer available. So I was not able to buy that part. A friend encouraged me to cross reference the part number. I did and I found another timer that claimed it would work on my machine. It looked very similar. I got the timer from you guys and put it in. The water valves worked right away but the motor did not. I researched more troubleshooting ideas and discovered I had a bad lid check switch. I got a new one of those from you guys and installed it. The washer started working. However the water valves turned on an off whenever I turned the control knob without pulling the on off knob. I got a schematic on line for my model and could not understand what the problem was. But I traced out the schematic and determined that the new timer was made just a little different than the model number for my machine, which is no longer available. I took the timer out of the circuit removed all the wires and operated it while checking the continuity with an ohmmeter. As it turns out the terminals for the power and the motor circuit that go through the on/off pull switch are reversed on the timer you sent me. The only one available. I reversed the wires installed the timer and my washing machine works perfectly. This machine is about 30 years old and still works great now that I repaired it. If you are not a technician I wouldn't recommend doing this. You might not be very successful. I'm an electrician and it took me a couple of days to figure it all out after I got all the parts I needed.
