This was an easy repair. The refrigerator occasionally freezes the refrigerated section, so the cold water tank was cracked by ice and leaked, only visible when back pressure was created by a finger over the cold water dispenser exit hole. Once the leak was clearly understood, the repair was straight forward. I replaced the cold water tank. I also replaced the electric valve since the ice maker fill sometimes fails to shutoff the water and freezes the excess down the back of the freezer. I broke the plastic cold air baffle / cover that prevents the cold water from freezing as I was removing it. There is no clear way to remove it without stressing the plastic. Popping the screw caps off appears to be a better way for next time. If it keeps freezing the water, I will replace the electric baffle next time. Be sure to purge the water line before reconnecting it. A lot of sediment came out when I did this, since the water only normally comes out slowly. The fast flow purge cleared a lot of debris from the pipes and feeder line. Take the opportunity to clean out the dust from the coils using a compressed air blast while using a vacuum cleaner to capture the resulting cloud.
