I had no idea what the problem was, the flaming made me think we had to replace the microwave. A little internet research revealed a wave guide problem but it wasn't reassuring. I ordered the part still thinking it would take a technician. I was leaving for a business trip, but opened the part. The replacement was easy! I tested the oven- no arcing or flames! It was fixed!,
